Hostmonster uptime for August 2008 is really sucks! recorded in just 98.2%, with 13 service downtime detected. major service downtime were recorded at 6th & 7th & 8th of the month. This Hostmonster problem was caused by their server upgrade and maintenance work. Hostmonster hosting is upgrading and replacing existing server hardware. In this had cost three days of service interruptions.

Average server respond time had fallen to 0.36 second.

Hostmonster uptime recover after 10th of the month. Likely Hostmonster support team had completed the server upgrade and fix the server problem, and the service uptime shooting to hundred percent for the rest of the days.

Is it true that Hostmonster support quality had been compromise? if you are one of the Hostmonster customer, you might found out that in the past few days, they are more service downtime than ever. in hostmonster forum site, you can find lots of new discussion about hostmonster downtime and customers website not available. Another main problem that is rising is they are more customer complaining their website being hacked and HTML codes granted into their index.html and other webpages.

Even my website is receiving more downtime than before, this really concerned me. I have looked into this issue quite seriously, and hope to find a good answer to all this. The past 19 months hosting experience with hostmonster is great, it’s never been this bad before. I had contact hostmonster support through live chat, and finally I understood that hostmonster hosting is undergoing server upgrade, which involve hardware replacement and subject to service downtime. They are group of hostmonster support team dedicated to perform this server upgrade task, hence I believe they are too busy with the upgrading works.

For the concern of Hostmonster website being hacked, Hostmonster user shall implement a strong account login and password combination, if you found your cPanel password or FTP password is weak, do change them immediately. Another tips is used down make sure your website scripts/html files are using the most updated version, make sure you update them from time to time. For example, if you are using WordPress script, do make sure it’s using the latest version of 2.6.2. Outdated script are usually having security hole and highly vulnerable to hackers attack.
