The past 19 months hosting experience with hostmonster is great, it’s never been this bad before. I had contact hostmonster support through live chat, and finally I understood that hostmonster hosting is undergoing server upgrade, which involve hardware replacement and subject to service downtime. They are group of hostmonster support team dedicated to perform this server upgrade task, hence I believe they are too busy with the upgrading works.

For the concern of Hostmonster website being hacked, Hostmonster user shall implement a strong account login and password combination, if you found your cPanel password or FTP password is weak, do change them immediately. Another tips is used down make sure your website scripts/html files are using the most updated version, make sure you update them from time to time. After 4 months with hostmonster, i finally met some downtime at hostmonster server. Its where the website hosted with hostmonster is not available for about 10 minutes.
