Offering features like unlimited domain hosting, unlimited subdomain, unlimited parked domain etc. And some hosting even offering unlimited storage space and unlimited bandwidth. But our discussion this time will focus on the unlimited domain and its current fact.

After you sign up to a unlimited domain hosting, and when you login to cpanel, you will find out that the statistic on the left hand side will shows 999 addon domains. Plus your primary domain, you are given 1000 domains to be exact.

Its in fact not unlimited, but is limited to 1000 domain name. And each time you adding a new domain name, you will have total less one… 998, 997, 996 and so on. The term unlimited is not so true, and there is limits to this. The same 1000 limit caps apply to unlimited subdomain and unlimited parked domain as well.

Since you can host 1000 domain/website in single shared hosting account, but should you do it? Definitely not adviced to. Last week, i initiated the domain transfer to hostmonster hosting. This host monster review blog “hostmonsterreview.org” was previously registered with godaddy domain registrar service. And now i move it over to hostmonster hosting. Today i checked on the domain whois information, and it shows that this hostmonster domain transfer had been completed. And the registrar information now are hostmonster.com. Following are the whois information:

You see that instead of my personal information being display, its displaying the hostmonster registrar instead. This is called the domain privacy. And when you register new domain with host monster or transfer domain over to host monster, you can choose to enable the domain privacy. Hostmonster domain privacy is a free service!

How to transfer existing domain to hostmonster? Quit simple, what you need to do is login to host monster cpanel, and go to domain manager. At here, you will view all the domain list that are currently ‘hosted’ at hostmonster. If its not at hostmonster, you need to change the nameserver to point to hostmonster dns. To transfer domain, clickon the transfer button next to the domain name. You will need to login to existing domain registrar and unlock the domain, and get the registrar authentication/auth code. Once you got the auth code, enter into the textbox and click on the email verification code to email. Your domain transfer will begins and should be completed in next 7 days. Simple as that!

With hostmonster 300gb hosting plan, you are allow to host unlimited number of websites/domains. This is througth the use off addon domains feature in cpanel. Parked domain is different case, and most newbies got confused with it, and do the wrong thing. Fact is that, you can setup few websites at this hostmonster shared hosting plan. I having 4 websites here, each with own TLD (.com, org, net.. etc)

Domain parking is domain pointers allow you to “point” or “park” additional domain names to your existing hosting account. This will allow users to also reach your website when entering the “parked” or “pointed” domain into their browsers. Meaning giving your website an alternative name. Few domain names, pointed to the same website.

If you are new to hostmonster hosting, i would like to let you know that you can have many, a few websites hosted with hostmonster single account. Meaning you sign up to hostmonster $5.95 hosting plan, and you can have multiple website here. For example i host this www.hostmonsterreview.org with hostmonster.com, and beside that i also add another domain here FreeDirectorySubmitter.org which is a under construction site of mine. Currently i have 2 websites running from hostmonster hosting. And i can keep adding and adding a few more. Regardless a .com, .net, .org or what so ever!

To take a look, i login to host monster cpanel xp evolution control panel. And from here i browse to addon domain. And finally get to the addon domain maintenance page.

• Addon Domains are domain names that point to subdirectories within your account.
• Addons will not be functional unless the domain name is registered with a valid registrar and configured to point to our DNS servers.
• The domain and subdirectory must be entered in all lowercase, no CAPS.
• When you create an addon domain, it will also create a subdomain. This is necessary for the domain to be properly added to your account. The url for the addon domain will still be www.addon.com, not subdomain.domain.com.

From here also, you can create domain redirection for your primary domain or redirection for the addon domain. There is no need to manually edit the .htaccess file to get the redirection done. Just use the interface to create the redirection, and the cpanel will create/update the .htaccess file accordingly.

Hostmonster $5.95 hosting plan allow you to host unlimited number of domains/websites. Beside the 300GB web space,  you can redirect and host unlimited number of website at hostmonster hosting account. For example you have a domain name, www.yourdomain12345.com and you can add this domain to host monster, and let the website to be hosted here. Visitor will view webpage from hostmonster server.

If you are a beginner, firstly you will need a new domain name. Usually we can buy domain from any third party registra, for example: godaddy, enom, tocows etc. After we got the domain name and its control panel, login to the control panel, and make changes to the DNS (domain name server)… lets point the domain to hostmonster. To do this, change to nameserver to following:

• Primary nameserver: ns1.hostmonster.com
• Secondary nameserver: ns2.hostmonster.com

After completed these, wait for domain propagation to complete. This can take up to 48 hours. Once its done, login to host monster cpanel xp evolution and go to addon domains. From here, enter the new domain name, give the folder a name same as the domain name, and password can be the same as your cpanel password. You can purchase domain name directly from hostmonster.com. Hostmonster plan allow unlimited domains, meaning that you can add new domains as many as you need. use the cpanel > addon domain, to add new domain.

You also can purchase domain name from other registra like: godaddy, enom, registerfly, etc. And after purchase, you can change the Name Server to Hostmonster server, thus the new domain is point to hostmonster hosting. This is not ‘domain transfer’, but is changing the NS and get the site hosted in hostmonster only. The domain still accessible from original registra, for example domain control panel of godaddy.
