Else you can use the backup wizard that have backup and restore feature, that you can download backup copy or restore backup copy of files. Make sure you keep a copy of your web files and database files at your local computer. MySQL database is not new thing to Linux hosting. Previously i am using cpanel X mostly, and at hostmonster its using cpanel xp evolutions, where i found out its much more interesting and been enhanced in some places. Including the mysql section, take a details look after this.

Hostmonster shared hosting plan of $5.95 allow you to setup 100 mysql database and 100 PostgreSQL database. I am new to postgresql, so will skip talking about this. Focus on mysql, i been using this since kid … joking. All right, from hostmonster cpanel, all the way down to advanced menu, click on the mysql database. Here we are:

If you are new to mysql database, first of all, you will need to setup one database. Click on add database, and input the new database name, done. After created the database, you will need to add user to this database, so this user will have access right to database. If no user is created yet, do the same, add a new user. Input new username and password and you are done. After user is assigned to the database, you are basically done. View the database using the phpMyAdmin tool provided, scroll the way down.. and you will found it.

To allow remote connection to this mysql, for example from your home remote pc, remote location server, or other computer that you have. You need to add the “access host” to the list. Wildcard is allow. Meaning the whole subnet can be addded. After adding the host, you almost done. If the remote server is within hostmonster as well, then no need firewall setting, else you will need it. To remotely access your databases (outside hostmonster), you must contact host monster support to allow the connection through firewall as well. Please contact hostmonster with the IP address numbers you would like to be able to connect from.
